Pocono Mountains Buffalo Soldiers M/C History

On February 21, 2005, at the National Association of Buffalo Soldier M/C’s winter meeting, something memorable happened…we were welcomed into the National Chapter as a full and autonomous Buffalo Soldier M/C chapter. But that’s only part of our legend: here’s the rest of the story… 

Ordinarily, chapters descend from ‘Mother’ chapters in the same state as they. Those taking the time to note that our chapter is in the Pocono Mountains and further, that the Pocono Mountains happen to be in Pennsylvania, might imagine that we metamorphosed from a Pennsylvania Chapter. But there is nothing ordinary about the Pocono Mountains Buffalo Soldiers M/C, who uniquely, and proudly, evolved from the neighboring state of New Jersey and

the Notable New Jersey Buffalo Soldiers M/C, where all of us had enjoyed membership and been an integral part for several years, riding 200+ miles each month to attend meetings.  

For each of us, joining the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle club via the New Jersey Chapter was the highlight of our motorcycling careers and all agree, one of the pinnacle life-changes in our lives: some of us had been NJBSMC members for four years – all of us had made life-long friends as well as memories. With each new prospect from our area joining, we knew that it would only be a matter of time before emotions had to be put aside, and sensibility kicked in. 

Finally, in December of 04, the time was right: a decision mutually agreed upon by both chapters after much consideration and reflection.

Living in or near the upstate Pennsylvania area and full of Buffalo Soldier pride, five members left our brother (and sister) Soldiers in New Jersey and chartered the Pocono Mountain Buffalo Soldiers M/C Chapter to continue in the great tradition of the NABSMC chapters that came before us. We immediately began to address the needs of our chapter and the needs of the communities in which we live. We are ecstatic to be able to continue the spirit of giving back in the name of the Legendary Buffalo Soldiers via the great American pastime of motorcycling.
